Excerpt

Inference techniques are used to make logical conclusions based upon given facts. Several techniques are used for inferencing like Inference with Rules, Inference with Frames, Case Based Reasoning, and Model Based Reasoning. No well defined formula exists for selecting a specified inference technique for a given situation. This is because every inference technique has its own advantages and drawbacks. In this paper, the authors have proposed a solution for selecting the inference technique according to the situation and domain. Moreover, the authors proposed a metric that may be used to select inference technique.
