Excerpt
A modified printed circular shaped monopole antenna with tapered base has been proposed and optimized for UWB applications. The antenna structure is composed of a circular patch with tapered base and a partial ground plane with a quarter-circle edges on top of two sides. The result shows that the antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth (VSWR ≤ 2) of 118.82 % (2.75 to 10.8 GHz) and (VSWR ≤ 2.6) of 151.65% (2.75 to 20 GHz). A stable radiation pattern makes the proposed antenna suitable for being used in wireless communication. Detailed of the proposed antenna design is presented and discussed.
