Excerpt

The rising popularity of social games worldwide has resulted in a growing importance for evaluation of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Unlike most studies, this research study focuses on adopting a user-centric approach in order to assess the level of user engagement in social games. By combining two proven HCI evaluation methods, a comprehensive approach towards evaluating HCI user level engagement is developed. One method focuses on the game-gamer interaction whilst the other focuses on the gamer solely. As a result, an in-depth understanding of the gamer is achieved and can be better assessed. An individual discussion of each method is presented before both methods are combined to achieve a synergy in HCI evaluation. This combined method could ultimately serve as advancement to the quality of HCI evaluation.
