Excerpt

This paper describes a framework to re-document the legacy source code and other related software components to support the software maintenance. The framework generates ontology to enhance the program understanding in semantic level by defining the knowledge which is relevant to the domain of interest. The re-documentation process done semi automatically which initiated from the Software Work Products (SWP) and mapped to metadata and generated as ontology. Finally, generated ontology will be mapped to standard software documentation such as MIL-STD-498 based on the maintainer request using the reasoning tool.
