Excerpt

We describe a method for computation of polynomial transition curve satisfying end points position, tangent and curvature specify by user. The work addresses problem arising in fair curve design especially joining smooth curves such as circles and straight lines. Here, we adopted the low energy quintic Hermtie curve base on its ability in approximating the spiral well. The Hermite curve is enforced to satisfy monotone curvature variation through adjusting the magnitudes of end point derivatives. The method is illustrated with example.
